This is one of my favorite critiques of education as an institution. It is "required reading" for the upcoming March Futurist meetings focusing on education and information literacy. Sir Ken Robinson (he has been knighted) does a superb job looking at the history of public education and illustrating how needs and motivations have changed over time. I appreciate that he critiques current paradigms in a way that is constructive rather than just jumping on the political bandwagon of public school bashing.
